Astronaut Foundation Scholar
June 2019
To be recognized among 52 other STEM students who are shaping their respective fields is first and foremost an honor. Moreover, it validates my aspiration to increase the quantity and accessibility of industrial engineering research alongside the inspiring goals of my peers. Through the astronaut scholarship, I have joined a network of innovators as well as gained a range of new knowledge, from tissue chips going into space to sunlight as a trigger for water disinfection. I am honored by this distinction and look forward to learning more from my ASF peers.
Clayton Excellence in Engineering Award
April 2019
While this award acknowledges my academic accomplishments, it also recognizes my leadership within the College of Engineering. Between classes and my on-campus research, I can have trouble making time for my volunteering with the Society of Peer Mentors and the Industry Integration Initiative. Knowing that the work I put into these other enterprises is having the desired impact on my community is the motivation I need to continue persuing a better engineering education experience for the potential engineers that follow me.
