Microsoft SAS
Learning as I go
For my project at Anheuser-Busch, I needed to analyze every shipment made in the US for the previous year, which is a large quantity of data; so large in fact, that I crashed Microsoft Access a few times before trying my hand at Microsoft SAS. SAS was a learn on the job process for me as I only had my rudimentary SQL knowledge to rely on. Nonetheless, I cultivated my SAS skills throughout the summer to produce all the results presented to the department's leadership.
Simio
Modeling system changes in a hospital
My senior design project at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOL) revolved around improving the process of transporting patients to and from radiology. After compiling a list of suggested changes with my teammates, I built a model of the process in Simio to test our ideas. The model varied the number of employees allocated to the different parts of radiology department, the waiting room capacity, and if a pull system was followed when requesting patient transfers.
