Experience with different cultures & people
Γεια σας, Greece!
May 2019
I traveled with LSU in Greece to learn about something a bit outside the scope of industrial engineering: classical history. With this program I experienced many different parts of Greece, including Athens, Nafplio, Crete, Pella, Thessaloniki, Delphi, Meteroa, and Santorini. In addition to the many places in Greece, I was also lucky enough to experience many parts of Greek culture, from the food to learning traditional dances from the locals to just chatting with my taxi driver about his favorite parts of his home town. As my first time outside of North America, I was amazed by how cultural difference can be seen not only in things as large as the layout of your city but also in things as small as the food offered at breakfast.

German Fulbright Buddies
When German Fulbright students visited LSU in March 2019, I was thrilled to be buddy of one of our visitors named Sonja. During her visit, we went on many adventures with other German buddies, exploring parts of American culture such as bowling, college basketball, and escape rooms. But the German students were definitely not the only ones exposed to a new culture. From my time with Sonja I learned about the stratification of students in high school depending on their talents in Germany and the lasting effects of American and Russian occupation after World War II on the country.
